Finding the source of Eczema flare-up

I have eczema and it got particularly bad and embarrassing on the back of my hand. I went on a 21 day Daniel Fast (basically vegan). Within a week or so the eczema was completely gone. Previous to this there was no OTC or prescription ointment or cream that worked at all. Now that I am off the fast it is quickly coming back. How can I figure out the source of what I feel is likely a food allergy?

Hi, Rebecca, welcome, and hugs on the eczema! I'm glad that you found some relief after such a frustrating time. Have you thought about seeing a board-certified allergist?

Have you experienced any other symptoms of a food allergy after eating a food? Hives? Swelling of the lips, tongue or throat? Shortness of breath, trouble breathing, or wheezing? Stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea? Feeling like something awful is about to happen? That last is a symptom that frequently occurs along with other symptoms during a severe allergic reaction.

Could you talk with your doctor about introducing one food back in at a time? And about ?

AAFA's Kids With Food Allergies (AAFA's food allergy division) has some great resources about food allergies:

On the eczema itself, you said you'd tried several different OTC and prescription meds. What other things have you tried for your eczema?

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the AAFA forums!

Eczema is certainly frustrating. Cynthia gave you some excellent resources. Have you contacted your dr about the eczema clearing then flaring again?
