Would you rather …

Ever played this game? It's a great way to get to know people, and we are all more than "asthma patients" here!

It's an actual board game, but I thought it would be fun to play our own version here.  I'll start off asking "Would you rather…" and give two choices.  The next poster says which they'd choose and then asks again with their choices, and so on.  Choices can be as thoughtful or crazy/silly as you want.  Ready?

———————–

Would you rather have your most annoying relative in your house for a week or spend 3 nights/days at their house?

If you were given the choice of living at the nc coast or nc mountains which would you choose and why?

  • Jen

NC Coast.  We have family in that area. I love the options of going to the beach, sound and river.

Would you rather buy clothes for yourself or something needed for your house?

  • GigiGibson

Things for the house. Right now my busiest room needs some revamping. New utensils, I'm down to one rubber thingy for batter, new measuring cups, throw out the odd and end glasses and start over, I need som big stainless mixing bowls and a few cute little wall hangings:-) if I have to be there so much I need it fully functional and organized!

would you rather take two weeks cross country Usa in an rv or two weeks in Europe?

  • K8sMom2002

Ooh! RV cross country in USA — there are so many places I want to see right here within our borders — and it doesn't even require a passport!

I've been after my DH to cave in and buy us a small camper, but he keeps saying no. Where's the emoticon for pouting??

I grew up RV'ing with my parents, and it's the absolute favorite way I have to travel, especially now that I have a daughter with food allergies. If you get hungry, you can park under a shady tree, prepare a meal, use the facilities, and then be on your merry way. Plus, you never have to unpack!

Gigi, I'm like you when it comes to the busiest room in my house. My kitchen is the heart of my house — especially because of my DD's food allergies … I cook a LOT, and it has to be functional and EASY.

Hmmm … my turn for Would you Rather …

Would you rather fill the ice trays or take them to the freezer?

  • Debby

Fill the tray because no matter how careful I am, I will spill some of it.  (By the way, I'd rather be in the mountains than the beach and I'd go RVing.  Definitely would stay at someone else's house because I could leave if it got to be too unbearable!!)

Would you rather have cookies or ice cream?

  • K8sMom2002

Debby, we are TWINSIES! Those are my answers to all of those! (And you know … I've never got to vacay in the mountains, because my sister is a beach addict? And my DH … well, we won't go THERE! )

I'm going to repeat your Would You Rather and let someone else on the fun … I'll come back and answer if someone doesn't bumble along shortly.

Would you rather have cookies or ice cream?

  • Mandy

ICE CREAM! I haven't had ice cream in 1yr and half. And won't for the foreseeable future. I cut out dairy and have not found a replacement like the real deal!

I would rather stay with the relative, buy stuff for the house, fill the ice tray, live in the mountains and go to Europe.

Would you rather sleep in or get up before the rest of the house?

  • Jen

Sleep in!  Every time.  My girls usually cooperate, but my son is a wild card with his sleep habits.

Would you rather have a sweet snack or a salty snack?

  • K8sMom2002

Mandy, have you tried So Delicious? A lot of folks who manage a dairy allergy use it and proclaim it VERY close. Maybe since your tastebuds haven't had ice cream in awhile, it might do the trick?

And yes, sleeeeeeep in! I'm a night owl married to a lark. Gracious only knows how we managed to stay married for almost 26 years! He swears he'll let me sleep in during the summer, but then he bounces up and just HAS to share whatever is on his ADHD mind.  He'll pat me on the shoulder and say, "You awake? Oh, good, I wasn't going to wake you up, but you're awake, so I'll tell you …"

    Good thing I love him!

I'll repeat Jen's Would You Rather for another person to join in  …

Would you rather have a sweet snack or a salty snack?

  • Jen

hahaha on the talking to you early in the morning thing.  Dh gets up early 2 days a week to go into DC.  Most of the time he's really good about leaving me alone to get that extra hour of sleep (before I need to get people moving for school).  But…there are times when he will wake me to ask if his shirt and pants look ok together.  Cmon dude…I'm not awake yet and you expect me to be your fashion consultant? lol

Would you rather have a sweet snack or a salty snack?

  • Debby

IF I can get up on my day off before my retired husband (since am not yet), I love the quiet of the house and that first cup of coffee with the dogs beside me!

  • K8sMom2002

Salty! My weakness is Pringles, which I can't have anymore because DD is allergic to corn, and Pringles contain corn. Sigh.

It's summer time when the big movies are out –

Would you rather watch a scary "slasher" type movie or a sappy chick flick?

  • Jen

I'd rather watch a chick flick.  Scary movies don't do much for me – I generally find them more amusing, than scary.

Would you rather cook a big meal at home or go out to eat?

  • Mandy

Jen it totally depends on how I am feeling. I love cooking for large groups but when I not feeling the greatest, eating out is a nice treat. I am the queen of chick flicks and I am salt addict

Would you rather sit on the beach or hike through the mountains (lungs permitting for both)?

  • Kathy P

Definitely the mountains! I like the beach, but I like the serenity of the mountains. I got to drive DD back to her camp job this week and really just wanted to walk through the redwoods.

WYR fly or drive for vacation?

  • Jen

Depends on how far we're traveling. Generally, though, I'd rather drive.  With 4 kids, flying can be a pita.  We have road tripped to Florida (from MD), upstate NY, etc.  It makes for a long day, but we have learned to do it with frequent stops and plenty of snacks/entertainment in the van.

Would you rather get up early on the weekend or sleep in?

  • Kathy P

Sleep in! Any day of the week!

Would you rather get dressed up and go out on the town or Netflix and chill?

  • Jen

Netflix and chill.  Hands down.  I like going out now and then, but I find it most relaxing to chill at home.  But…when it comes to sports, would rather watch in person.

Would you rather watch a sporting event (whatever it is you like to watch – football, basketball, baseball, etc) in person or on TV?

  • Jen

Ok…this one has been sitting here for a month.  Bumping it up to see if I can get any takers.

Would you rather watch a sporting event (whatever it is you like to watch – football, basketball, baseball, etc) in person or on TV?

  • K8sMom2002

I'm a TV gal myself, although when it comes to high school football, I do prefer it in person as long as it's not too cold or rainy.

    Hmm …

Would you rather have hot coffee or iced coffee?

  • K8sMom2002

Gigi, the best way I like coffee is coffee ice cream. In the winter, I live off hot tea.

A former boss of mine once teased me that I take a little coffee in my cream, and that's SO true.

Why not propose your own Would You Rather?

  • Jen

Ok…I'll bite.  I'd rather have hot coffee, though I do enjoy iced coffee, particularly on summer afternoons.

Would you rather host Thanksgiving at your house, go to someone else's house or go to a restaurant?

  • Melissa G

I would rather host. I love cooking big holiday dinners and hosting family get togethers.

Would you rather go away on vacation or have a staycation?

  • Shea

Staycation! I love my house and bed and there are so many fun ways to spend money near me that will go so much further than travelling. Plus it is safer/ easier with my illness. We have beautiful beaches and parks, zoos and aquariums, concerts and plays, and malls and museums in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area and from our town ( Zephyrhills), Orlando and the Disney parks are only an hour away too. My parents and siblings all live nearby too.

Would you rather… sing karaoke or dance? (for both, in public☺)

  • Melissa G

Oh Shea, I am so jealous of the area where you live! Bekah wants to visit Clearwater so she can see the dolphin, Winter.

Uumm, you wouldn't want me to do either at home let alone in public….

would you rather shop online or in-store?

  • Pljohns

    Melissa-definitely on-line unless it's for clothes-I don't do well on-line for those

Would you rather be hot or cold?

Can I do both? One of my favorite desserts is lactose free vanilla bean ice cream with smashed up pretzels and caramel sauce…perfect blend of sweet and salt!

Most days I am a sweet.

A few years ago we went to see Winter…she was so amazing!! Bekah will love it there!

  • dory2005

Shea, I'm jealous as well! My DH has been wanting to move to that area for many years.

I'd rather be cold. You can always add layers, but there is only so much you can take off!

Would you rather have tea or coffee?

  • Melissa G

I'd rather be cold, I am hot all the time anymore… hot flashes are not fun and I agree with Dory, you can only peel off so many layers….

I would rather have sweet tea, I don't like hot drinks unless it is hot chocolate.

Would you rather go to the movies or watch one at home?

Oops, forgot to include my question…

Would you rather be a master of every musical instrument or fluent in every language?

Brenda, I would rather be fluent in every language … I so wish that I could speak different languages, including sign language! I took Spanish in high school and French in college … recently I started brushing up on my Spanish with Duolingo, but I've fallen off the wagon a bit with college planning taking up so much time.

And I'm posting Melissa's question for my "Would you rather?"

Thank you, this area has a lot– believe it or not I actually havent seen Winter yet– I am putting it on my list to do this summer.

Tommy and I make this honemade chex mix that is salty and sweet– such a good combo!

I love to go to stores and shop– get it right there and then plus I love stores and malls and walking around them in tbe a/c during tbe hot/rainy season just to get out and feel connected with others, talking with people, and looking at stuff (as long as no dogs and no scents bother my breathing and skin– sometimes I have to leave for those reasons and get frustrated and take large breaks from stores and just do online shopping or dont go back to that store).

Lol Im not good at this bc I always say both but …

Id rather be cold– I can put on more layers!

And I like to watch movies at home because Tommy doesn't like theatres and Id rather use the money to own the movie and him be comfortable and able to watch it too.

  • Shea

Oh yeah I forgot: coffee and musical instruments–Id love to learn more about music.

Would you rather open your own store (if you had the money) or open a restaurant?

  • K8sMom2002

Shea, most of the time I prefer movies at home myself — how can you beat being able to stretch out on the sofa rather than sitting in a movie theater?

That being said there are a few movies I like to see in a theater surrounded by people — it's usually the big blockbuster type of movie or a comedy — it's a neat feeling to sit in a theater and hear everyone laughing with you.

Store, hands down — cooking for other people stresses me out! I do okay cooking for my family day-in-day-out, but big holiday meals are enough to send me into a froth and a panic.

Love your question, and I'm going to let it hang out for others to chime in …

Would you rather open your own store (if you had the money) or open a restaurant?

  • Shea

K8SMOM, I am the same way about cooking!! Id have to hire a good calm chef if I opemed a restaurant ever. But I think Id choose a store too– itd be fun to pick out the items and make displays.

  • Melissa G

As much as I love to cook, I couldn't run a restaurant. I am not that patient of a person, I would definitely open a store.

would you rather have it rain or snow?
