What Are You Thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Hello everyone, I've always considered thanksgiving to be my favorite holiday because it reminds me to step back from life's craziness, breathe and reflect upon what I'm thankful for. Life is not always easy….sometimes it's downright difficult.

I'm thankful for my family, health, old friends and new friends. I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow, and to support others who need help.

Over the past year, I've learned from you. I'm grateful for your willingness to share your experiences to help all of us. You make a difference in my life.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Question for you: What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

I am grateful for my family, Grace finding a college that she will thrive at and for Bekah to be able to eat with us this holiday.

I am thankful to the Good Lord for this group and everyone here who has seen me through so many tough days of asthma, for my family for trying to understand all my asthma limitations and changes in lifestyle, for my doctors and nurse, and for all the pharmacists, researchers, and others who produce and invent new medicines to keep us breathing.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, too!  This year I’m especially grateful for you, Brenda – your kindness, gentle welcoming and support for all of us. I’m grateful for everyone at AAFA – you’ve given me a renewed sense of purpose as well as invaluable information and contacts. I’m grateful for the medical researchers whose tireless efforts have improved my quality of life so greatly these past few years. And I am grateful for the loving and generous family and “family-of-choice” who have been so supportive, even in the toughest times. I also am forever grateful to the physicians and staff (from medical down to the hospital kitchen staff) at George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates and Hospital.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

This year I am especially thankful for our brand new manufactured home and fenced in yard. It is an experience like no other to have the shelter, safety, sense of belonging, and stability for my son and I … and every day I am thankful for it.

I am thankful to spend each day with my son, and enjoy moments of learning and joy together as a family. I am thankful for my parents for helping us tbrough some very tough times. And my siblings for sharing celebrations with. And our new co-op and virtual school communities.

I am thankful for this community forum here at AAFA. I have struggled through my life with so many things on my own, but this chronic allergic disease and asthma has been something else– and the adversity a person can run into with it is paralyzing to face on one's own. Yes, I need doctors and yes I need my family, but I really need others who understand what I am going through and don't shut me down or ignore me but show empathy and concern and share struggles and joys of their own with me. I am so thankful to know you all– I learn alot about asthma and allergies, but also about friendship, support, and strength that you all show to others here, and to your families, and communities at home. Thanks for being AWESOME!!!

So Thankful for this community and all of its members.  I have learned so much through each of you and have had the support and understanding of you all.  It's difficult to find people that truly do understand what it's like to live like we do

Loved reading all of your responses!

I am thankful for the support and friendship we all have in our group. I have come to know such a wonderful group of people here!

I am thankful that I am able to manage my asthma and COPD and have avoided the hospital so far. I am thankful for not needing to be on oxygen yet.

And thank you WHOEVER invented those frozen pies. Woooooey! They are such timesavers.

As we reflect on past Thanksgivings, let us look forward to future Thanksgivings as well. We will all have a nice, hot meal. We have all planned, prepped and figured out things to do to cut corners to lighten our workload.

Oh, my goodness … I'm thankful for the attitude of gratitude from all of you!

You have taught me so much … you are my friends and my supporters and my foxhole friends in this fight against asthma! But the main thing you have taught me? To be positive and to focus on what I CAN do and not what I CAN'T!

I'm also grateful for the many blessings I have … my DD, my DH, my sister, my dad and my step mom … my wonderful friends near and far. We have had many, many blessings this year … but the most important are the relationships that make life worth living.
