    Thank you for the welcome.

I feel a little bad today had to do a breathing test this morning again.  The Dr. apparently found a lung nodule so I have been getting CT scans done & breathing tests done.  My family Dr. feels that I have histoplasmosis.  I don't know what is going on.  My asthma is bad right now.

Hi, Brenda … welcome, and hugs on the asthma and the lung nodule. That has to be scary in and of itself, not to mention the breathing issues!

When will you find out something about your test results?

  • Tiffany F.

we are so far so good this season but the weather hasn't shifted completely yet in our area its still fairly warm.

  • K8sMom2002

Tiffany, so glad the warm weather is hanging on and you guys are good! Does cooler weather usually spell trouble for you? What kinds of things do you usually try to help ward that off?

  • Tiffany F.

@K8sMom2002  this is all new to us, our daughter was just diagnosed this summer after an attack.   Not sure what to expect this winter just reading mostly.

  • K8sMom2002

Hugs — we're here for you, and it sounds like (from your other posts) that you are doing everything you can to keep your daughter healthy and well!

  • Jen

    Welcome everyone.

Brenda – Sounds like there is still some unknown going on.  When will you get test results?  Are you seeing a pulmonologist?

My youngest (now 7) has Chronic Asthma, Nummular Eczema, and his recent allergy testing showed that he is allergic to everyone and everything except for me. He was born in the state of Wyoming and we moved back to Michigan when he was almost five, which has been an interesting couple of years getting acclimated to the new environment. We bought a different home in hopes that it would offer more relief in season changes because our old home was stick built for us….and any with Asthma or allergies knows that is hard the first five years with the chemicals, etc. The home now has had many preventative measures put in place, including the use of air cleaners and purifiers. Unfortunately, many on the market have Ozone applications that are not a good fit for our situation. With that said, I stopped by to read about the giveaway, but have followed recommendations and articles from AAFA for some time. I am my son's advocate, and the giveaway entry wasn't just to win a product, but to improve the quality of life for him. Thank you for reading the mini novel, and bless you all!

Hi Kathy.  I didn't know this forum existed until just recently.  I found it through company resources/recommendations.  I have asthma and allergies.  The former is not bad compared to many others.  I am always looking for any advice or experience on triggers.  I know cold and dust are two of my triggers, but it seems to be more than that as I can be exposed on one day and have no reaction and on another day will have a reaction.  I'd be interested in anyone's experience on that.  I also get cold induced urticaria every once in a great while.  Again, not consistently though.  My ragweed allergy sometimes triggers my asthma.  The last couple years have been better than previous years though.

Welcome @MicheleKaunitz and @Johnk - thanks for sharing what brought you to our community. I hope you find the resources here helpful to you.

Welcome Michele! Sounds like you guys have had a rough time controlling the environment. It can be so challenging! We've been in our house for >20 years and there are so many things I'd like to change to be able to help with my indoor air! For instance – we don't have A/C, so I can't close my windows in the summer to keep out pollen. Climate-wise, we don't really need it more than a couple weeks a year. I'm glad you have found the information helpful. We are here for whatever support you need.

Hi John! Managing triggers can be frustrating for sure! The fact that one day you can tolerate something and the next you can't can really be a challenge. Do you always avoid? Or minimize exposure and hope for the best? I'm the same way. I have exercise induced asthma (plus allergic). I can do the exercise (mainly biking) and one time it will trigger an attack and another time it won't! I can warm up and prep the same, take the same route – still a bit unpredictable! For me, partly it's how full my "allergy bucket" is – how much can I add to my load before it overflows. We do have a couple of .

  • Johnk

Hi Kathy.  In relation to the cold, I do not try to avoid it, generally.  I live just outside Syracuse, NY.  We get a lot of snow (sometimes over 140 inches per season).  I am the one to clear it in my house.  So no choice but to do what I have to do.  As for dust.  I am doing a better job of wearing a mask to try to minimize exposure when I am working in the garage.  I am not as consistent as I probably should be on that as it's not real convenient.  I'll check out the trigger topics you referenced.  Thanks!

  • Jen
