I never get any gifts. But I would be happy with just a card!!! It would be nice to have a personal note written inside!!! A girl can dream, can't she? 😄😄😄

    Melissa, thanks for the post!

Fortunately I have no problem with flowers… but there are many other ways to show you care. Your link has some great ideas!

Adding some more: What about a free ticket to some fun activity your loved one will enjoy? A photo album? Chocolate?

Even if you were on a tight budget, you could bake your Valentine something special .This is something that would be easy for those of us who are homebound, and cannot get out to buy a gift. It's really the thought that counts.

DH doesn't believe in giving a gift, but I bake something for him and give him a card. I have a non-stick heart shaped cake pan. Sometimes I bake a cake. Or, I have Valentine's Day candy molds. All you need are candy melts!  ❤💕💌🍫🍰🍮

Deborah, some of my absolute most treasured gifts from DD and DH are the notes that they have given me or the hand-made cards over the years. I prefer that over everything else — allergy, asthma AND budget friendly! Husbands can definitely underestimate the power of even the shortest note.

Cards, especially the handmade ones, are wonderful!!

Cynthia,  Totally agree that "Husbands can definitely underestimate the power of even the shortest note. "  !

Definitely agree with Cynthia-my most precious card is one DH made when we were dating.  He had to work until 8PM so he either had a choice of seeing me or getting a card-he made one at work and it meant the world to me.

We don't do gifts or flowers-just a card and that's plenty for us.

I love to cook, so I typically make dh a special dinner. He always does a great job of getting me a romantic card and putting a really sweet note inside.

I have had many different types of valentines days over the years– when i was a kid my dad would get me cute stuffed animals and chocolate, when I was a single working adult with my career-job, and took myself out to a restaurant with a nice book and ordered a nice filet mignon for myself; when I had boyfriends, it might be getting off my waitressing shift with a rose on my car winsheild, or staying in for a movie night, or single again going out with freshly heartbroken, love-hating friends to sing our heart out in kareoke, …but now its also my sons father (my ex-bf) and I's anniversary blekkkk because that was our first official date, then once we had a court hearing on that date going over the issue of him wanting to put our son with dander allergies regularly visiting his home with dander (double-blekkk), but I wasnt gna let the bad times ruin the holiday for me– when I was a single mom my dad always gave me roses and a card, and my mom would make tommy and I cute valentines cards, and Tommy and I have always made cards for our family members and made cute valentines crafts, and this year are attending a Valentines Party with our honeschool co-op and making more cards and a cute homemade mailbox (it is a "Creeper" from the popular video game Minecraft) and Minecraft valentines cards to bring to the party

Shea- you have had many happy Valentine's Days. It's so nice that you are happy with yourself, no matter what you do. Tommy is your eternal Valentine!! 💞💗

Thanks, Deborah. I truly believe it so. We have a special love like no other, and I know it will last forever! 💝💜💙💛🌹🍀

Shea you are such an amazing person to do everything you do.  It sounds like over the years you have had a lot of really nice valentines.  i totally agree with Deborah-Tommy is your eternal Valentine and what a super wonderful Valentine he is.

  • Wheezy Me

Shea, that's nice you celebrated valentine also as a single. In my area only couples celebrate (the rest just enjoy the sales everywhere…).

Indeed, I'm sure no bond can compare to that of Tommy and you! It sounds you have supportive partents which is fortunate. And his craft is cute! Enjoy your special day!💘
