Tis the Season…for Sneezin’ and Wheezin’!

I just really don't even want to go into stores!

Yesterday, one place I needed to go to was Bed Bath and Beyond. OMG! I was assaulted with all the scents as the door opened! Once I got past the front with all the scented holiday stuff, it wasn't quite as bad. But I tried to get out of there as quickly as possible.

Then I went to Michael's – that was a rinse and repeat of BB&B only with longer lines!

I did a quick run to the grocery store today for some baking ingredients. Ugh! The trees outside right by the door, the cinnamon pine cones and all the poinsettias! It was overpowering! The worst was the trees – I think it's the molds as I'm not allergic to any pines/firs. I had a sneezing fit the entire time I was in the store! Made shopping a bit challenging – UGH!

How is everyone else dealing with seasonal scent / allergy triggers?

Michael's really messes with me… I give myself time limits in some stores. I this k I need to practice wearing my mask more.. The cute purple one that I bought and I even carry it with me.. I just gotta start wearing it actually!

Two words — online shopping! I try to stay OUT of the stores at this time of the year.  If only my fridge would place an automatic grocery order that could be delivered!

Yes online shopping and I limit myself in stores. I pre-order groceries when I can. I should be wearing a mask in the assaulting stores…my irritable lungs can only deal with so much.

The scents can be really overwhelming.  I'm not bothered by much scent-wise, but the cleaning aisle in the grocery store always gets me (so many scented things these days).  The extra holiday scents make things even more overwhelming, I'm sure.

The laundry aisle affects me every time I walk down it, regardless of the season or weather.  I'm not affected by other scents (like candles), but my daughter is anaphylactic to cinnamon.  I haven't taken her with me to stores that are likely to have cinnamon products on display.

Anne, you wouldn't want to take her anywhere near the entrance of our Kroger, then — from before Thanksgiving on, they have these big cinnamon brooms displayed outside the entrance and it smells heavily of cinnamon.

Mandy, I don't have the option to pre-order groceries … but I can dream!
