Spring is coming!

Our weather is slowly warming up. I am getting really excited for warmer weather but more importantly sunshine!

What is one of the first things you want to do when the winter weather finally breaks and spring arrives?

I want to go on a picnic or just have a cook-out at my parents and enjoy the sunshine.

I want to plant some carrots and sunflowers– we bought seeds today at Walmart.

First thing to do is clean up after all the Winter storm damage. Then, clean out my gardens. Watch for the perennials and especially, the hyacinths to come back. But…time to be careful for mold allergy from the wetlands! 😶😇

get all of the leaves out of the yard that we didn't get out when they fell!  The last time it was 20 55gal bags of them!

Oh yeah. DH uses the tractor on some. The rest get raked into the woods. Oh boy! Such a wonderful thing to look forward to! Watch out for ticks. They hide in those leaves.

Spring cleaning…. Not looking forward to it but it needs to be done. I am splitting it into pieces. Yesterday I cleaned the fridge and dusted the ceiling fans.  Today I cleaned the oven and did a pretty thorough vacuuming in the house. It was exhausting. I also vacuumed my car out 2 days ago. Next step will be washing — the car and the floors. Then replacing the a/c filter.

Great idea to break it down into more manageable jobs, Shea!!  What a clean house you will have!

Now I just need to take my own advice and get started on my own Spring Cleaning!!

  • Deborah Bartlett

I started mine by clearing out the clutter and donating stuff a few times. I will be Spring Cleaning a little at a time. The heavier stuff gets done earlier in the day. With my COPD, I am weak by late in the afternoon.

I thought spring was coming, then this thing decided to show up!! Send sun or snow plows!

Oh, wow!  Winter isn't done with you yet!  My college roommate was from the Black Hills.  One summer her dad kept track of the last frost in the spring and the first frost in the fall.  If I remember correctly it was only a span of about 6 weeks or so.

Went to visit her one summer.  Sure is pretty up there!  At least in the summer!  Hope you are doing okay!!

    Yay spring!👍

I want to wear my spring clothes and enjoy the longer daytime hours. Actually, this weekend the beautiful weather made me go on a walk around my neighborhood- I enjoyed the sunny view so much!

A picnic sure sounds fun too.

Oh, I wish I could invite you all to a cookout and serve a whole bunch of foods buffet style. We could wear our masks in peace and be comfortable!! It's a nice thought! 😇

I got to see something that I haven't seen in a while…the sun!!! It was absolutely beautiful and it felt so good to feel it on my face!

SO glad the sunshine made an appearance Melissa!!  It is a shock when you see it and blue skies after it's been in hiding!  LOVE that warmth from it!!  Hope you get a few more days of SUN!!

Tommy and I are already feelin the spring allergies– went to an art fest and got civered in oak pollen– itvwas all under shady oak trees on a breezy day. Also gotta resist opening windows on breezy mornings bc of high pollens and try to go for evening walks instead so to avoid the high pollen time of day.

Shea, that is definitely one drawback of spring…the beginning of allergy season.

    The  was released this morning.

Not looking forward to pollen allergies and all the rest. ✋

    Deborah, thanks for the invitation!

Melissa- yay for a sunny day! How nice!

Shea- I'm sorry for the trouble pollen gives you and Tommy. Not fun… Hope you enjoyed the art festival, at least!

  • Shea

I did! Lots of inspiration (the artistic kind not the respiratory kind)– always thinking about what I think is cool and what is actually selling and how little pieces of each artist is in their work and what each means to them and to me. I really like being around people in that type of setting too and chatting with the artists and the people I am with.

OMG! – When I see and hear people jumping up and down all excited about "Spring Is Coming," I just tense up and cringe…

Because this is the absolute WORSE time of the year for me – It's only March 19th, and yesterday, I was wondering why my eyes were itching, and why I sneezed half a dozen times, before I even got out of bed – And then it hit me: It's SPRING!!!

Yes, I love the longer days and the warmer temperatures – I can finally turn the thermostat down and save $$$ on heating bill, but other than that, this time of year stinks for me – Just the mention of a picnic or a cookout makes me want to run and hide (LOL)

Sorry to be such a "Debbie Downer," but that's my sad reality.

You can come over to my house and we will both hide out in the family room. 😀😉

Mizwheezie, I understand. I love the warmer weather, my bones stop aching, but I'm not sure what is worse, bones aching or the non-stop sneezing and watering eyes. It seems each season has its own issues.

  • Shea

Yeah– it really does kinda stink as a season because its like it tries to entice you by the nicer weather to open the windows and to go outside– and everyone else seems to be doing just that– but DONT FALL FOR IT. Ugh. I thought my asthma was getting better and then spring came. I feel like the owl on Bambi.
