Severe Weather Check-In May 2019

This was the first weekend in a month that we didn't have severe weather warnings! We had lots of rain late last night, but no severe thunderstorms.

Glad your weather was calmer this week Melissa!  That has to be a relief.

We have forecast to have rain and thunderstorms most of the work week but at least the temperatures are warmer!

  • Emelina

Where is spring? It’s 33 and mixed snowing/raining, lol! I think Mother Nature is on methylprednisolone again. 🤪

  • Deborah Bartlett

The weather is bi-polar. Let's get the weather…and Mother Nature the clinical help they are in need of.

I have had nothing but problems with my health-due to this weather. UGH!!!

  • LK

We have severe thunderstorms tonight through Wednesday so looks like we will be getting some more rain!  So grateful we have a sump pump that works and has a battery backup in case of a power outage.

    Hope everyone is staying safe!

  • Deborah Bartlett

Lisa- Such a good idea to get battery backup. If there is a storm that causes floods, and the power goes out, you're all set! That's what I woyld call being proactive!

  • Emelina

Lol, sometimes you just have to laugh. Still in the 30s and 1-4 inches of snow tomorrow. Could always be worse! 😂 wishing you all a safe weather day!

  • Melissa G

Em, sending you lots of sunshine and warmer weather.

Yesterday was overcast and dreary. Today is sunny and warmer. Yay!

  • Marie E Natzke

    Hi everyone

Sunday was a very nice warm day 1st nice day in a few weeks.  But then yesterday the temp dropped and we had rain.

LK we are under a flood advisory until Friday again just like last week.  Thursday is supposed to be heavy rain and possible severe weather.  I'm assuming this is the same storm that is rolling through Texas and headed our way.

  • LK

Yikes Marie!  We are under a Flash Flood Watch through Thursday morning.  Got almost 2" last night added to almost 6" last week and more to come.  I think you are right in that it is the same storm system.  Looks like a rain forest around here!

  • Emelina

Holy cow Marie and Lisa, stay warm, safe and dry with all of that rain and flooding possibilities. 🤞

  • K8sMom2002

My goodness! Your spring seems to have sprung for somewhere else, Em!

As for as all our folks in the Midwest …

Severe weather killed at least one person as it trekked across the southern half of the U.S. Wednesday, spawning tornadoes and damaging storms along with flash flooding.

Their graphic looks like not-so-great news for the middle of the US:

Stay safe! And remember: AAFA has a great blog post about . How do you prepare for severe weather?

  • Melissa G

Apparently, spring has decided to take a vacation. It has been cool and dreary. Storms come back tomorrow. Uugghh.

  • Deborah Bartlett

Melissa! Spring vacation's on vacation. Until the Summer! 😵😲 We are due for more and more rain. So bad for the lungs. Combine that with a high pollen count. Yeesh. Well…we can't change the weather, but we can still get through the day with a smile! 😁

  • LK

Ummm, Em?!  That's some very odd severe weather you're having!!

    Sorry! Couldn't resist!

Seriously, that's some gorgeous scenery!!  Wow!!  Breathtaking!  Thanks for posting the pictures!!  Love clouds and blue skies!!

Hope you were able to really enjoy such beautiful views!!

  • Emelina

I got a little freaked out when I saw my shadow on the ground. And thank goodness that orb in the sky was cloaked in a white cloud! Scary stuff! Thanks Lisa. It was a beautiful walk.

    I think I found spring!!

Well, it's about time! We knew it was there. It was shy…just hiding for a while! ☺

  • Melissa G

Em, the pictures are absolutely beautiful! You deserve some gorgeous weather. Thanks for sharing.

  • Marie E Natzke

The sun finally showed itself today. Supposed to be cool this weekend warmer temps next week and more rain!!! Between the snow and rain we've had about 8 inches…

hope everyone is doing better and getting a break from all the bad weather.

  • Marie E Natzke

Love your pictures Em. Yes spring is finally here!!!!

LK, they are getting bigger. I'm glad they are doing ok after all the rain we've had.

  • LK

Marie,  Glad you are getting a few days of no rain.  We are getting a few yesterday and today but the rain is returning tomorrow.  We haven't had quite the weather you have, only 6" of rain this past week.

Those baby bunnies sure are cute!!    Thank you for taking pictures and sharing them!  All the fur from their mother lining the nest probably keeps them warm and dry.

  • Melissa G

    Marie, they are adorable!

We had lots of rain overnight. I hope we get some sun for a few days.

  • Marie E Natzke

I lied it's raining again today not hard but the annoying kind it's a drizzle that stops and starts. Very damp out its only 48. Yes the babies are growing fast. I can hear them crying and see the covering moving…

  • LK

Melissa,  I hope you get some sunshine, too!  You need it!!

Marie,  We had that sort of weather the past few days.  Today is cloudy and in the 50s.  Everything outside looks SO GREEN.  Looks like a rainforest.  The grass in the yard and pastures is growing by leaps and bounds.

Hope everyone is dry and safe!!

  • Melissa G

It hasn't stopped raining since last night. And for awhile today, it was down pouring. We could have some flooding if things don't slow down.

  • Marie E Natzke

I lied again we had heavier rain later in the day yesterday. Just a few sprinkles this morning. We are to have more later today. We are to get warmer temps during the week and yes more rain too!!

    take care Lisa and Melissa!!

  • LK

Hoping for dry weather for all of you who have had more than your fair share of rain!!  You know how I like things to be fair!

  • Deborah Bartlett

All it ever does is rain. And pour. I have been wheezing and experiencing shortness of breath because of the weather. 😷

    Thank you!!

I am still on one 5 mg Pred tablet per day. I take it at 6 am. It is due to this weather and where I live. I have been wheezing and short of breath with that annoying chest tightness. I am going to call my immunologist tomorrow. I will have more time to wait for the call back from him. I need to ask how in the world I will be able to end this crazy taper. More rain through tomorrow. Again Friday through Sunday. I have a physical scheduled on June 5th. I won't be as good as I should be due to this mess. I am wondering about the bloodwork a few days before. With the Pred in my system, I need to find out if these things need to be postponed, or if I should go ahead as planned. Doc already told me last week that my white blood cell count could be up. Also my blood sugar… Which is always normal. He said my PCP would understand this. I will see what doc says tomorrow. Some decisions are better left up to the doctor.

  • Emelina

Oh my! It is snowing! Yesterday was severe thunderstorms. What a crazy year. Wishing all a safe weekend. Sounds like it’s going to be busy and dangerous with tornado warnings in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas!

  • K8sMom2002

    Marie, those are the CUTEST!

Deb, hoping the weather will settle down and you will not have any odd test results from your taper.

Em, yikes on the weather — sending good for the midwest and Texas!

We have sunny weather here … but I looked ahead, and we may be in for it. Our DD's graduation is outside, and the temps are supposed to shoot up to 101 the day of her graduation. Thank goodness her graduation is later that evening, but it will still be in the 80s that night … and we may have thunderstorms. I can't imagine sitting in the middle of a football field (all. that. grass.) in sticky, humid heat with maybe the barometer going crazy.

I need to reach out to my doc to see how I need to tweak my action plan …

  • LK

We are having severe thunderstorms today and off and on most of next week it looks like.  Heavy, pouring rain and occasional hail included at no extra cost!

Cynthia, Hope your DD's graduation weather is dry!

The babies have left the nest…😭😭 was hoping they would stick around for a while longer but I guess not.. We really had 8 of them not 6.

  • Marie E Natzke

We had thunderstorms this afternoon but nothing severe. We did have marine warnings. Tomorrow we are to have more storms roll through.

  • Emelina

Marie, the babies are so cute!

Cynthia, I hope dd has a wonderful ceremony and the weather cooperates

  • LK

Marie,  Wow!  Eight of them!  Maybe they got too big for the nest.  Stay safe with all the spring storms!  Hope this weather isn't bothering your asthma and joints.
