It’s that time of year….*cough* *cough*

I hear a *cough* *cough*. I note it, but don't say anything yet because it may be "just a simple cough".

An hour later, I hear *cough* *cough* as he is heading to his next sports activity. This time I say, "You know, I've heard you cough a few times. You need to remember that coughing is a symptom of asthma. You should make sure to pre-treat before exercise today."

13-year-old responds: "It's not an asthma cough. I can tell. I'm getting sick."

So now we're on the "sick plan".  Anyone else dealing with the wintertime sicknesses and asthma?

*raises hand* Yup, I've got 2 sick kids!

College girl has "that cough" and when I point it out and remind her to take her meds, I get "yeah mom, I know". Um, so do it!

Da boy started feeling his allergies flare when we were visiting family over the holidays. We started the "sick plan" but it was not enough to stave off escalating to a sinus infection. Hit it with antibiotics but can't seem calm things down. Asthma is not super flared, but he is coughing enough to keep him awake. We added pred today! Oh joy!

Knock on wood – my allergies and asthma are behaving for the moment!

That round of illness took almost two weeks to clear up. He's finally not coughing anymore.

So what happens this morning? Other kid wakes up sick with sore throat.

    I'm seriously activating quarantine measures.

Ugh! That's not allowed! We had a similar thing here though. Just as da boy was finally feeling better, I started feeling cruddy. I didn't get it nearly as bad as he did, but still.

    Sending Lysol!

I had to go grocery shopping today. As I was leaving the store through the automatic doors, a woman was walking in. We were the same height, and she was coughing as she walked past me, so any potential germs "poofed" right in my face.

I had no idea if she had a contagious cough, or asthma, or just a tickle in her throat, but my brain thought, "NOT AGAIN. NOT TODAY."  So I quickly started blowing out my mouth (didn't inhale), turned my face and rushed out the doors. I got into my car, got out a baby wipe and washed my face and hands.

I don't care if I looked crazy. I cannot do another round of winter sickness.

Oh no!Teen boy was complaining about starting to feel sick on Friday – fortunately, nothing seemed to materialize. Good thing, bc I can not deal w/ another round of illness for him or me!
