It’s almost winter break … what will your kiddos be doing?

So this year, my kiddo is able to drive herself around, and I keep hearing whispers of plans for fun stuff with friends – shopping, movies, you name it. And tomorrow, DD will take her last final and be pretty much done with school for the fall semester.

It seems like yesterday that the winter break/Christmas holidays from school were filled with me trying to figure out, "Okay, how do I let her have fun and keep her safe at the same time?" Not only did I have to manage her asthma but I also had to manage food allergies.

I kept my sanity by thinking of it as a very brief repeat of Summer holidays, and I used a lot of the tips listed in the Kids With Food Allergies blog post .

The only catch, of course, is during the summer, it's easy to keep kids entertained with a sprinkler and bathing suits, as long as environmental allergens aren't in full bloom. Winter — with cold rainy weather — means that outdoors aren't always an option.

What kind of winter activities will your kiddos be doing over the break? Do you let your kiddos head over to friends' homes? Or do you have the neighborhood gang at your house?

Josh and Bekah only have a week off, Grace has off for nearly a month. We will try to do some fun stuff since dh is off too. Grace will be cleaning her room (hopefully) and prepping to move to college in January.

A lot of places have activities at reduced rates when the public school are closed…bowling alleys, laser tag and the ice rink.

DS#1 is out for a month and plans to just chill out.  he is great to help me around the house so I'm sure he will do that.  DS#2 gets out next Friday and will enjoy time with us and with friends.

My DD gets two weeks off from school so she doesn't go back until January 7th! She'll spend the first week with family since my parents are in town and my sister has the week off. The second week, she'll go to winter camp. My class doesn't start up until the third week in January, so I'm excited to have a little bit of free time on the weekends.

Although, I do plan to start reading for my next class when my textbook arrives. I want to get all of the reading done before my class starts. There are weekly papers in the class (Nutrition assessment) and so I don't want to have to read and write each week!

I have no children, unless you count my DH as my DS!!! So….I will be doing the same things I always do. I want to wish all of you an enjoyable time spent with your children! Stay healthy and be safe all!

Deborah, there have been times that my DH has fit that bill!

Brenda, I've never heard of winter camp … is it like summer day camp?

Lynn, I know my DD is looking forward to spending time with her friends … hoping your kiddos have a great time with theirs!

Deborah, when people ask how many children I have…I say 4, dh is my 1st… At times, he gets into my trouble than the kids.
