Globus hystericus

I have a constant sensation of having something stuck down my throat for atleast an year now. My ENT says there’s nothing. Should I be worried? Should I get a scan done? Sometimes it goes away but always comes back.

    Hi!

Is it hard or painful for you to swallow? Did your voice become hoarse? Do you feel you choke (different than asthma sensation)?

If you have any of these clearly ask for referral or more testing. If not, you can wait and see if it gets better.

BTW, did the ENT use a fiberoptic? If so it means there's no problem with the main airway.

I really like Wheezy Me's line of thought as far as wondering about the sort of discomfort you're having. A slightly different question: does food get stuck in your throat?

I'm trying to remember … have you been evaluated by a GI doc?

A scope of the esophagus can help the GI rule out anything wrong with your esophagus — reflux, a disorder called  or some other issue. A GI can help you decide whether or not you need a scope.

Yes, that’s the next thing I gotta do. Thanks for the replies I think the gastro appointment should address this.

I had the appointment postponed due to weather. Will have to go in next week when it’s warmer,

    The warmer the better!

Decided to put this off for now. I have a hard time scheduling appointments due to work and DDs therapy schedule. Will do it as early as possible though.

It can be hard to schedule things when you're juggling lots of priorities … glad you've still got it on your radar. I have to remind myself that taking care of myself helps me to take care of my family, too.

Yeah I’ll be doing the appointment sometime this month. I guess self-care is the hardest part when you’re a mother.

It sounds like you have a lot of high priority things on your plate, and sometimes it can be super hard to keep those plates spinning.

Just know that we're here for you, and you are not alone!
