Does a mask of some kind help?

Hi everyone,

I m travelling and have noticed that the air quality has been bad where I am at now the last two days and my breathing is getting bad. Does some kind of help to keep the particles out? Does it make a difference? This is the first I am travelling after I developed somewhat persistent asthma and am wondering if keeping the particulate matter out of the lungs will help until I make a doctors appointment to discuss asthma action plan.

A mask has helped for me in a number if different situations – air quality, allergens from cleaning, cold air, and keeping germs away.

I live in the CA Bay Area and we had terrible air quality due to wildfires in November. I wore my VogMask any time I went outside. If I didn't, I was coughing immediately!

I wear a disposable N95 mask when I clean. Otherwise, when I'm stirring up dust and mold spores, my worst allergies, I trigger an asthma flare.

I wear a mask when I travel – in the airport, on the plane. There are just too many people coughing and I'm not taking any chances! The mask keeps me from touching my face and transferring germs.

A resounding YES, a good mask helps!  I also have a Vogmask, a RZMask and a Cambridge mask and all three truly help me breathe better.  The things Kathy listed above - air quality, allergens from cleaning, cold air, and keeping germs away – plus strong scents which are another trigger for my asthma.

I wear my masks when I am traveling, cleaning house or even out doing errands here at home.

Please let us know how you are doing!

Better now. But have shortness of breath from time to time. Strong scents are the issue right now plus pollution here is very bad. I’m looking into the masks on amazon. Thanks,

Another YES here-I have an RZ and a Cambridge mask.  The Cambridge one is new and I've not used it yet, but I know others here that have them and love them.  the RZ mask is amazing for keeping out strong scents-a very big issue for me-both came from Amazon and I would definitely recommend both.  The RZ fastens behind your neck with velcro and the Cambridge one has loops that go over your ears.  If I'm going to be in a really bad place-construction zone, strong scents etc, I use the RZ.  I'm anxious to use the Cambridge one as it's not quite as intimidating to others as the RZ is.

I have 2 RZ masks. I use the filters that help me to avoid fragrance. They work well. I wear a mask whenever I go anywhere. It also helps protect me from breathing in sick germs. They are reasonably priced!!!

I agree on the masks….without it, I cannot go outside when it's yellow or worse air quality. I have a vog mask and while it doesn't keep out scents, it does keep out the particles and allows me to breathe freely!

Yes-it does help tobacco smoke-There is an RZ particularly for odors-and it comes with 3 filters.

Glad you have a mask on the way, BreatheEasy!  It made a big difference for me.

That is awesome! I'm going to look into that because my neighbor asked me about my mask and if it prevented smelling odors…I told her the VOG mask didn't…but I didn't know hat RZ had one for odors. I'm going to share this info with her. Thanks!

Brenda-the RZ I have allowed me to work in a construction zone-complete with glue, paint, new plastic stuff, you name it, it was there-and I had no problems with smells AT ALL.  Best investment I've ever made

Thanks. I am waiting for the mask from amazon. I can’t wait to try it out with the amount of pollution on the streets right now. I travel long distances during peak traffic hours and along with the other environmental pollutants I was literally choking the other day.

Glad you ordered that mask. I live with the highway behind our backyard. The fumes and exhaust are horrible. Wearing my mask helps quite a bit.
