Can Probiotics Be an Effective Part of an Asthma Treatment Plan?

I thought this was an interesting review of this study. It's about a 2:40 min video to watch where he describes what a pragmatic study is and then goes over the results.

I thought it did highlight that more research, and different types of research, need to be done on probiotics and how they can effect asthma (or other diseases)

Do you take probiotics? Have you noticed any (anecdotal) changes to your asthma health? I sometimes take packaged probiotics and sometimes rely on live cultures/fermented foods. I notice that I feel better overall, but have not noticed anything particular with my asthma and allergies.

Pragmatic trial may not be enough to determine the efficacy

The hope that probiotics would improve outcomes in patients with asthma may have been dealt a knock-down, but not a knock-out blow, as MedPage Today clinical reviewer F. Perry Wilson explains in this 150 Second Analysis.

This was interesting! I don't take any supplements, but I have tried to increase the pre-biotics in my diet — the things you eat that help your gut biome.

I take Walmart brand everyday and I eat activia 4-5 times a week. I haven't been well much since Spring but with all the antibiotics and prednisone I've had to take I have avoided my flora being wiped out and having to take diflucan. I took doxy two weeks, z pack and 10 days of augmentin all since July.

That's a lot of antibiotics! And they cannot target harmful vs beneficial bacteria! I'm still rebuilding after the several rounds for the infection on my finger (which seems to be gone now). I ordered a couple boxes of the fizzy drink ones.

I take probiotics daily.  I do it to help with my gut health and immune health.  I have noticed that I don't get colds all the time like I used to.  I  will say, though, that it took several years of being on the probiotics to really notice a difference.
