So the turkey is toast and everyone (but me!) is putting up their Christmas trees or getting ready for Chanukah … inspire me, because I so am dreading unpacking my tree! Martha Stewart I am NOT.
I don't usually put up my Christmas tree until the first Saturday in December. We use a "fake" tree because of DD's allergies and asthma. Even though she's not allergic to Christmas trees, the growing/blooming/budding out season down here in Georgia means that any real tree is covered in grass pollen. SO not good!
A couple of years back, I lucked into a GORGEOUS pre-lit tree that assembles in three pieces in an after Christmas sale. It's one of those that you can switch from either white lights (my fave) to colored lights (my DH's fave) or back and forth (uh, no, definite migraine inducer!). When we first put it up, I made a deal with DH — he could have the lights multi-colored when I wasn't home. Now, though, I try to let him have it on colored more, because I am ALWAYS home.
Beyond the tree, I am a disappointment to my DD, who loves Christmas. She so should have had my sister (THREE Christmas trees and door decorations for every interior door in the house!) for a mom.
How do you decorate for the holiday season? What tips and tricks do you use to keep it allergy and asthma friendly?
Inspire me with photos and ideas so that I can be a tiny bit more like Martha and make my 16 YO happy!
