Asthma Allergies and Perimenopause and Menopause don’t play well together

Whenever I was due to have my period my allergies would flare. The day I had my asthma attack by The time I got home from the ER I had my period. My attack was triggered by coming in contact with an animal but because of my trigger being set off it really flared my allergies. Which in turn when my hormones would go up and down was also flaring my asthma and allergies. I realize all this now but not back then. Now when I get my shots I take an extra dose of Allegra which was ok'd by the Doctor.

So fast forward 5 years and it's as year now since I had a period. I'm noticing that as bad as this allergy spring has been I'm much better than last year at this time.

Hormones and menopause and allergies don't play well…

What about you?

Hormones can really mess with me, but I never thought to track my asthma with it. Genius idea!

I'm glad that you've seen a bit of relief … when it comes to menopause, it's an ill wind that blows no good!

Right there with you Marie-when I was first diagnosed, there was a definite connection between my period and when I had asthma problems AND migraines!  Fast forward 8 years now and it's no longer a problem-migraines have all but disappeared (but I changed my stress level too) and my asthma has been better.  I don't know if it's from the less stressful environment or what but definitely better.

I have been in perimenopause since I was in my late 20's. My asthma actually got better. I hardly ever get a period anymore and my asthma is coming back?! I do know for me stress and enviroment bothers me
