And We Have Flu…

Ugh…T's buddy from school who had the flu came back to school before all his symptoms were gone. As in not fever free for 24 hrs. Guess who has the flu….

At least 2 of us have the flu….what I thought was allergies on Sat morning was likely flu symptoms starting. When I got home from some errands, da boy informed me that he was sick. Later that night, I was feeling pretty bad. Dragged da boy to weekend peds on Sunday where they did a flu swab and gave him an Rx for Tamiflu anyway since the test is only about 75% accurate. Got the call later that he's positive for Influenza Type A. Yippee! Called my doc early this morning to ask her to call in Tamiflu for me. The respiratory symptoms are not terrible for me, but T is coughing and sounds really tight. I keep offering him an albuterol inhaler, but he's "not there yet." Meanwhile, I'm continuing to take it preemptively.

We are pushing fluids and both pretty miserable. So far, dh isn't showing any symptoms and he's keeping his distance.

and sending of good health your way.

When DD was diagnosed with the flu some years ago (before we all started getting flu shots), the doctor wrote out anti-virals for all of us in the household because he said it was likely we were all exposed and he'd rather start us early than late.

Ugh…Not great. Both of us thought we were feeling better and turning the corner today. Nope, we both thanked in the late afternoon.I just need the fever to break. I'm cold and boiling at the same time – not the usual chills though. It's weird. And Ts congestion has changed to a wet cough. He's voluntarily taking meds, so I'm hoping we can avoid a secondary infection which would flare his autoimmune disorder. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Meh, T and I were both up and down today. Cruddy in the morning, then feeling better again by dinner.Poor kid is going to miss an entire week of school! But he still has a fever.

I hope the weekend will give you guys time to rest and recuperate.  Also hope the fallout from missing school won't be too bad – is he able to get his assignments online?

Feeling mostly human. The fever seems to have broken yesterday and has stayed down. I'm still feeling rather tired and worn out and O2 sats are still a little lower than usual. But the weather has been damp/humid and now it's raining, so that could potentially be allergy as well. I think we've come through the other side!

Da boy still has a wet cough, but that seems to be less as well. Planning on him going back to school tomorrow.

Hope da boy made it back to school today.

When we all got the flu a couple years ago, I remember being really wiped out for a couple of weeks after I got over the other symptoms (we had relatively mild cases that didn't last long).  I hope that you are able to get a little extra rest.

He went back yesterday. We are both still wiped out. Fortunately, mostof his classes are doing review before the close of the quarter, so hedidn't miss a lot of new material. He did miss a Chem test though Hopefully, he can get caught up quickly!

How is everyone doing?  Has anyone else caught the flu?  *knock wood* but so far, so good here.

No flu here, but I'm with you, Jen, on knocking wood. Did you happen to see Allison's post and link about ?

We do what we can: flu shots, washing hands, staying away from sick people, trying not to touch our faces … hopefully that will be enough.
