AAFA joined Mom’s Clean Air Force at Play-In for Climate Change

Earlier this month, AAFA joined Mom's Clean Air Force at their 2018 Play-In for Climate Change on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Read AAFA's blog, to learn about the event and about the Ozone Standards Implementation Act (H.R. 806), which was passed by the House of Representatives in 2017.

H.R. 806 will weaken the Clean Air Act and increase asthma rates, especially among children and the elderly.

Are you concerned about climate change and its impact on your health and the health of future generations?

Absolutely! I worry how things will be when my kids are older and for my grandkids…not that I have any yet or in the near future…

I'm most definitely concerned about climate change and my health. We've had a few severe heat events already this summer and each time, my asthma flares so badly. Here in L.A., our "fire season" is getting longer and more intense every year. Earlier this year, I had to wear an N95 mask when leaving my home or office for a couple days due to smoke and ash from a nearby fire. If I'm struggling this much with current climate issues, I shudder to think what the next generations will experience.

I totally agree! I get chest tightness and heaviness if I'm outside in moderate air quality for a short amount of time…I don't even have to be doing anything strenuous….just putting gas in my car (I'm hoping that that particular environment is why I had such trouble with being outside for literally less than 5 minutes).
