Worsening allergies

Hello my allergies have recently got very bad within the past month or so. I’ve had minor allergies to pollen, dust, dander throughout my life but I was able to deal with it without meds. Began taking Reactine on bad days for the past 10 years but the past few months I’ve had to go on prescribed allergy meds daily. My allergist continues to say it’s my dog but when I’m with him I’m fine not sneezing. My allergies worsen in the evening and just some days are worse then others..recently in the past month everytime I drink red wine I get the worst reactions sneezing running nose throat and mouth very itchy ears extremely dry eyes. This has never happened before  Has anyone else experienced this? Up until now i had no reactions at all to wine.

This is a very frustrating time of year! The spring pollen allergies are in full swing. You can read our Spring 2019 Allergy Capitals Report, it lists the top 100 cities where the most people are affected by spring allergies.

Have you had any allergy testing done? Here is some information on allergy treatments.

For us, we have to take a daily antihistamine, use nasal sprays, do sinus rinses and keep our windows closed to keep the pollen out.

Yes! My allergies are so bad I only seem to get some relief when I take my antihistamines daily now. Until last year I used them only during the fall season(for 4 seasons. I was fine before that). And my doc said they do get worse with repeated exposure to something you’re allergic to.

I’m doing alright I began seeing a naturopath it’s been helping slightly so far.with reducing some congestion. But I’ve been itchy (throat, ears and skin) on and off for a while now..hoping I’ll get some relief in that soon. Just trying to find ways to reduce the dander so I can live comfortably with my little pup.

I have had to live in pet-free home after my allergies worsened. It definitely makes a difference, as dander gets everywhere in homes through a/c, on shoes, clothes, and dog dander is very airbirne as well. Stidues show even second-hand dander exposure (dander brought in buildings on clothing if others who own pets) can fkare up thise with allergies or allergic asthma significantly. I know it is hard to rehome a family pet. My allergies developed into asthma and a chronic allergic disease marked by high eosinophils (allergic inflammatory cells) that eventually found their way into blood vessels and organs and caused life-threatening problems for me.

As for wine, I cannot drink it. I have a sulfite sensitivity that is borderline anaphlactic so wines, shrimp, dried fruits affect me, ESPECIALLY after I had the worsening of allergies and chronic allergic disease diagnosis. In my experience, and from what I have learned as a result of my disease, researching, and healing, the best method is avoidance.

Thanks. How were you around the dog? Some days I can snuggle up to him and I’m perfectly fine and then some days I sneeze and get congested. Most of the time my allergies affect me at bed time.
